Welcome
Exercise advice for older adults is often overly simplified. Physical limitations, past injuries, fear of falling, and even loss of confidence can all become barriers to movement. At AgeStrong Wellness, the focus is understanding those barriers and creating safe, supportive ways to rebuild both physical strength and mental confidence that keeps people moving.
All About Me
Throughout my career, I have worked with older adults in many settings, but my decade in senior living had the greatest impact on how I understand aging and movement. During those years, I had a front-row seat to both the resilience of older adults and that challenges that can quietly limit independence and mobility. That decade shaped the philosophy behind AgeStrong Wellness.

Exercise advice is everywhere. Understanding the aging adult is where real change begins.

That experience led me to pursue gerontology, where I focused on understanding aging across the entire lifespan. Aging is not something that suddenly begins in later years. It is shaped by decades of lived experiences, habits, injuries, and beliefs that influence how people approach movement and exercise.

My work has also included supporting individuals living with Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's where movement becomes not just about strength, but about preserving function, confidence, and quality of life. I was part of the development of an award-winning PD program, emPowerD - a results driven, multi-dimentional approach, that challenges individuals while supporting strength, physical capacity, and independence as the disease progresses.
Today as a certified personal trainer and medical fitness specialist specializing in older adults, I combine my education with practical fitness strategies designed to meet people where they are. My work focuses on identifying those barriers and creating a clear path forward. By understanding the individual behind the movement, we can rebuild strength, confidence, and the ability to stay active and independent. - Heather Mairn
